It's too late to..........

Writer's picture: YoudoyounaturallybydesignYoudoyounaturallybydesign

When I turned 50, I started thinking about all the things that I had accomplished (raised a family, had a career, traveled a little bit) and what I "didn't" accomplish. I started to panic - what have I done in my life that I dreamt about? NOTHING! Then I wrote my list of those "things" that I should have, could have and would have done if I had this or that or made the "right" choices.

Then came that haunting thought.... I'm now 55 years old and it's too late to........

Too late? What the heck does that mean? Many of us in our 50's were raised to think that you could not make up for lost time. If you didn't do it in your 20's or 30's, your dreams were done. Growing old meant that you would have a routine and take the safe route (do what everyone thinks you should, stay close to home, and don't have fun!).

Does this sound familiar? If it does, think again; it's never too late. When I started having a family, I had a picture in my mind of what a wife and mother should do. I put my dreams aside to raise my family and put their needs first. Little did I know, being a wife and a mother meant putting me and my dreams first, not last. By putting me first, I could teach my daughters that they matter and their dreams are important.

Now I know and what am I doing with this new found knowledge? I'm making plans. Yes: My body hurts, I get tired, I forget things and the list goes on. But you know what? I'm alive and am able to do the things I haven't done yet. No more "should have", "could have" or "would have".

It's not too late.....it's never too late. You might have to "adjust" how you do it, but you still can "git er done". What are you going to do?

It’s never too late to…adopt a Mustang (or two!) and start riding horses again!
